After years of developing and launching innovations across diverse industries and working with countless innovation leaders, I’ve distilled the patterns that leaders repeat which inevitably lead to innovation failure.

The working title: “How Leaders Fuck Up Innovation: An Innovation Book That is Not About Innovation”

Some findings that genuinely surprised me while writing:

• Innovation doesn’t need innovation (seriously)

• Being first to market is often a disadvantage

• Steve Jobs wasn’t Steve Jobs (the way we think he was)

• Consumer research often lies • Leaders who innovate for themselves kill innovation

The premise: Innovation rarely fails because of lack of creativity, budget, or process. It fails because of leadership decisions—often made by smart, well-intentioned people who simply don’t recognize the traps.

This isn’t another book about brainstorming techniques or the latest innovation framework. It’s about the predictable, avoidable ways leaders derail innovation—and what to do instead.

More to come as I move into editing. For now, I’m celebrating this milestone.
